@XXRichieXXrichXX Thats cool Richie…I was thinking about that. I’ve been going to Chadwick for about 7 yrs but have no interest there on two wheels yet. I like the softer stuff(dirt/grass) now but only if dry. It can get squirrley when slick and even with a new front tire washes out on me at times. I am liking it though. You all have been great at supporting my decision and helping with the confidence. Thanks alot.

@kawikeith it all depends is the trails where u ride better suited for the atv or the dirt bike and if you ride for hours on end the atv offer more confront you can carry more gear with ya on the atv but the bike is much more fun to rideonce you try it you will not wanna ride any thing but a bike

@37enjoylife Thanks alot! I did it. Need to get out more. Want to but neighbor has other hobbies too. He’s the only buddy I have that rides bikes. I am turning 40 this June and don’t heal as fast as I used to. I need to respect the bike and my limits. I still feel nimble and halfway athletic enough to do it….i think. lol. I am ready to hit some trails and traverse terrain that quads can’t. Just need to practice. Happy riding.

@kawikeith do it. I didn’t start riding till I was 30 years old. Motorcycles are lots more fun then 4 wheelers. You can get a 4 stroke and plate it and ride places 4 wheelers can only dream about. When I go riding with 4 wheelers on trails they can’t go where a bike can. peticulary if your riding something like a wr 250f.

@biggray250r Thanks for the confidence boost biggray. I did the deal and have been out a couple times. It is definatley a different animal. I think I will get the hang of it. The twist throttle and slick situations are my challenge right now. Later.

  11. biggray250r says:

@kawikeith i rode quads for a long time and then switched to riding dirt bikes as a little challenge to myself and love it. Its a different animal from your quad but its sooo much fun and you will pick it up fast

does the wr450 have as much power as a yz450f?

  13. MrBikerboy77 says:

Is the wr 450 f 2009 a good trail biek, becuase I think I will be getting one some time this summer or is to hard on gas to be used on the trails ??

  14. notsoeezee says:

never. They didnt make one because they have too many left from 07 08 09 . If they were smart they wouldnt put out another one that isnt fuel injected. Did you see the new suzuki? I have the 08 wr all set up but there are better bikes for sure. They must lose weight and run better if they want to continue to sell them.

  15. kf4tjp says:

Now I haven’t owned one but I have a friend that works at the dealer and he said the wr is a tuned down version of the yz. and with that said, it would last a lot longer. But he also said that it had plenty of power. As for top speed…I would guess between 70 & 80mph. I owned a KLR 650 and the top speed for it was 100 mph. Also own a Yamaha V-max. Now that’s a hell of a bike. I plan to buy a wr450f for myself because my crf 230 is lacking the power I’m looking for. Hope I helped.

Because im in my last year of hight school, and i will be staying in town for 2 years to attend collage, then i will go to montreal for university. Do you think that the wr450f would last 2-3 wiht out and major motor reparis. Does it have a good bit of power and what is it’s tops speed,i heard it is quiet fast biek, beucae of its comparsion to the yz450f. Thank You for commenting, you really helped my decision, i will let you know if i actually get the bike, fi you want…lol

  17. kf4tjp says:

I believe that goes for the yz, not the wr.

  18. kf4tjp says:

When can I expect to see the 2010 wr450 hit the showroom floors?

  19. gatorrebel1970 says:

Thanks for the info man, I used to race on a YZ125, but that was a long time ago.

  20. Charliemullinsfan5 says:

@gatorrebel1970 If u want a good mx/ trail bike, get a cr 125! I have a 1998 cr 125 and i love it! It’s a great trail bike and has enough juice to be at the top of the podium at ur mx track!

  21. zoonerluber says:

    yea you do have to

  22. MrBikerboy77 says:

Hi, im 16 years old from Canada, im planning on buying a new bike this upcoming summer. Im interested buying the wr450f, but my uncle says that you have to overall the engine every 50 hours. And i would like to know if this is true or not. Thank You. I mostly tend to do offroad trails. I have previously owned dirt bikes.

  23. gatorrebel1970 says:

Thanks alot, I really appreciate the info. I also checked out your video, nice work. I have found a great deal on a hardly ridden 2004 XR400R, I’m tempted to go that route just because of money. I”m gonna go check out the bike in a couple of days, if I don’t love it, I think I’ll just go ahead and get one of these Yamaha’s.

  24. 1985TA355 says:

@gatorrebel1970 I’m 5′8 and weigh 180 my Wr 250 has lasted me 3 racing seasons without even touching the engine at all. I don’t think you will have a problem. Check out my vid.

  25. gatorrebel1970 says:

How do these bikes hold up as far as the engine. I’m 5′9 and weigh 165lbs and am looking for a good woods bike but also want to do about 10 races this year at the local mx track. I’ve not raced since 1986 and wouldn’t be pushing the bike even close to it’s limits, I just wonder how it would hold up. I don’t wanna have to rebuild whatever bike I get every week.
